There are hardly any women who work at the fair. there are women who travel with their families and cook etc. But these women live nearby and come to collect all the cow dung to convert into patties to sell as fuel.
They would not tell me their names, but giggled all the way as I was photographing them, and kept asking why do you want our pictures? I said 'tine sundar lag rahein gain' - to which they giggled more.
Nagaur Cattle Fair In Rajasthan takes place annually in January. It only has male calves (bachra) and bulls (bel), no cows. There are, however, female horses and camels allowed. People come from all over North India to buy and sell cattle. Some people come to 'dance' their horses and camels.
I met Mahendra Singh from Haridwar, Uttarakhand who took me around the fair and helped me by telling everyone I am Indian, so they would not hassle me. 09012837793 & 09058793325
